Angela Martell is a multimedia artist residing in Los Angeles, California. Her ceramic work involves both hand-built and wheel thrown pieces that are joined together to create unique forms. Her work is greatly influenced by various architectural styles which can be seen in her clean lines, geometric shapes, and sculptural forms. With a background in jewelry design and interior architecture, she began to experiment with ceramics as it allowed her to explore a new world of forms and materials. Her artistic journey started in Philadelphia as she received a BFA in jewelry and metals from Tyler School of Art in 2005, where she gained understanding of design principles and craftsmanship. She then later went on to work in the world of interior design, both being major influences in her style and thought process. Though much of her work is functional, such as lamps and tableware, everything is hand crafted as it allows for unexpected evolution and for each piece to serve also as a distinct work of art.
